Week 3 – Fluency Powerpoint
Create a PowerPoint presentation of 15-18 slides on effective fluency strategies.
Your presentation should cover the following topics at a minimum:
1. The role of fluency within the five critical elements of reading
2. Research-based teaching strategies for fluency
3. The impact of fluency on reading comprehension
4. Differentiation of fluency instruction for ELL, SPED, and diverse learners
5. Assessments for fluency
Title and reference slides are required. Use graphics and color schemes to make your presentation
attractive and visually stimulating. The presentation should be organized with headings, descriptions,
bullets, etc.
Submit slide notes, background materials, etc., to the instructor.
Additionally, include a summary or brochure that you could include with your presentation as a
supplemental handout if you were presenting it at a training or in-service. While there is no
specific word count, your summary or brochure must include all required assignment topics.
In-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be
found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
This assignment uses a grading rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to
become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Slide 9-10: Repeat for Research Based Strategy for Improving Fluency #3
Slide 11/12: What can teachers do to support fluency development for EL/SPED populations?
Slide 13: 1 way to assess fluency (include name, purpose, step by step directions)
Slide 14: 2nd way to assess fluency (include name, purpose, step by step directions)
Slide 15: References for Information: (Use APA style)
References for any media ( Graphic of X retrieved from: (paste URL to where the graphic was found on
the Internet, hyperlink the URL)
Remember you should also create a brochure! Lots of students forget this and it is worth
a lot of points!
